However, there is one clear version that is sold in a rather obscure area far away in Jinjang Utara at Kepong that is worth a try with it's clearer soup.
Sheng Huat, not to be confused with the famous Seng Huat Klang Bak Kut Teh.It is about time i write about my addiction for porcine delights.
However,
The clear soup bak kut teh is not really the clear winner of the meal but it does serve well soft cuts in a herbal soup that is very clear, almost too clear to be even called Bak Kut Teh.
It is also not the braised pork which is cooked in a dark soya sauce and dried chillies, which is also quite comforting to dig into.
Accompanying everything are braised eggs and tofu but then again, why we travel all the way to Jinjang is not for all that.It is for this. Strictly for offal lovers.
The pork intestine. Many people fail in preparing this dish well as it requires alot of cleaning to get rid of the rather offensive smell but here, Sheng Huat does it best. Cooked to a nice bite with no hint of "by-product that has gone through the intestines", it is served in that nice clear soup used in the same Bak Kut Teh claypot. That my friend, is why my friend is often crazy enough to drive all the way to this side of the world to eat.
Situated at the Pusat Penjaja Jinjang Utara area, this is the bomb for some pork intestine!I have been googling around for the address and came across reviews to say that it only opens at 11pm, well we came at 5.30pm and glad to say, its open!
Address
GPS: 3.212077, 101.658795
Restoran Sheng Huat
Jalan Jinjang Aman 2
Jinjang North
Kuala Lumpur
Verdict: The pork intestine deserves 4 stars out of 5 stars. Strictly for offal lovers though because the Bak Kut Teh can't compete with the Klang versions.

EEEEEEeee. Intestines.
D:
(Yes, I realise I am very "banana" as I don't eat all these dan lain-lain type animal parts... )
the intestine layers look beautiful on its own, do you know that to get the perfect layers require much time stuffing layer by layer to achieve this kind of effect? :P btw when r u heading to aussie? im absolutely jealous
maybe it's typo error... should open at 11am instead of 11pm :P
the version I like best for the clear soup BKT will be Ah Sang Bah Kut Teh in Sg. Way which by the way, has been blogged extensively by a few bloggers, including me :)
Actually Jinjang is a heaven for food.. to those who know the way around every corner of this area.
i still gotta find my way to klang someday for this ... the closest thing to it i've tried is the one at hutong, i think...
heh, the french apparently enjoy a kind of sausage that is made with pig intestines, with the full flavor of the "by-products" still intact... though tourists who unknowingly taste it sometimes end up throwing up...
I had my first taste of BKT here in Jinjang when I was very very young. Back in those days, in order to eat them, we have to wake up extra early cos it wud be sold out by 9am!!!
There were 2 stalls back then back to back each other but they demolished these stalls when they widen the road. not sure where they are now :( could be this is one of them!
babekl: haha this is my first taste of jinjang bkt, and its not too bad!
sean: this is jinjang haha not klang.
leo: well i read 2 blogs and both also say 11pm wor!

You need to start giving GPS coordinates for your posts ;)
Damn, I have never been to Jinjang!
tng: there, got mah on my address. haha not surprising, i hav only been there twice.
I would love to go there for the intestines but I'm sure I'll get lost in Jinjang.
Hey Joe,
would appreciate it if you included the prices as well to facilitate budget consumers like myself :)
All in all, keep up the great job. Looking forward to more cravings!
kharyue: hey, dont think the BKT was that expensive, probably came up to around rm15 per pax x 4 = RM60 for the meal.
eiling: i got lost the first time, almost killed a motorist too!
Those intestines are real solid!
pureglutton: delicious too!
Can I say I'm lucky coz I grow up there BUT..... I never had this & I don't like intestine , HAHA ^.^
mimi: so lucky!
hye..where to find halal roasted duck, halal yong tau foo and hala chinese cuisine around KL?
Kudos to the the price update. Was there last week - awesome BKT. Almost as good as Ka Ka BKT (家家肉骨茶).
