Kei Tak Sek @ Kepong

Some of us might have read on Twitter, yes, my grandmother had passed away yesterday.

In some ways, the tough lady had fought her fair share of the battle over the years. Strokes, diabetes, memory loss and etc, she managed to outlive our grandfather who was relatively healthier than she was.

May she finally join her husband where ever that maybe.

She never really did catch up with the Internet, so your condolences need not be present in the comment box.

---

Although we are all in such a sombre mood, one thing i never fail to remember about grandma, is her love for sweets. Her love for sweet black coffee was evident from a plastic packet of coffee tapau-ed (bungkus-ed) with the straw beside her at most times.

I haven't found my love for sweet black coffee yet but i don't mind the shaved ice with mango cubes and syrup at Kei Tak Sek ("KTZ") not on a daily basis, of course.

Most would remember the KTZ outlet in SS2, in fact i thought it was born from there.

Well, i was "thought" wrong.

KTZ was born in the humble streets of Kepong and compared to air-conditioned outlets with nice decor, it is still road stall, well a big one.

Still outdoor, no joke.

Tong sui my dear? Barley with Foo Chuk and Pak Guo.

Their infamous Mango "Lo" (whatever that is suppose to mean). Their puree is kind of artificial tasting but the sweet mango pieces and refreshing shaved ice helps cool the body during the crazy hot weather spell.

Theres a variety of snacks also available along with desserts, fried drummets, porridge, dim sum, noodles and etc. I don't think this section of the food is halal.

Address:

No. 66 Jalan 7,
Kepong 52100,
Kuala Lumpur

Verdict: 3 stars out of 5 stars. With other branches littered around, this is quite the place to go to, for a late night sweet.

My condolences.
On a sweeter note, kinda nice to see so many tong sui outlets have sprouted in KL, yet the most famous still remains.
KTZ's lolo is good, the others not so much.
