Village Park Nasi Lemak @ Damansara Uptown

Once upon a time, when i first got to know the Queen of DSLR and food blogging (which must have been at least 3 years ago), i received an invite from her to have this particular nasi lemak at Damansara Uptown at an insanely hour of 8am on a Saturday, may i add. Sad to say, when she texted me a friendly reminder of the group "date", i was sound asleep, barely having enough energy to lift the phone over and texted blindly "sorry, no can do la".

Maybe its retribution because since then i never had the opportunity to breakfast with the Queen at such an ungodly hour and worse still, this elusive meal only came to the ways of the Wife and I, just last week after 3 years of knowing of its existence. Talk about procrastination. If this was treasure, the treasure map would have been as worthless as toilet paper, probably worse since it may scratch your ass if you try to wipe with it.

So after finding ourselves hungry (i mean the Wife was still hungry), we decided we will finally go out to seek this treasure.

So we circled around Damansara Uptown and miraculously found a carpark spot right in front of the shop lot too.

Now you can either choose to order from the staff that are forever running around or queue up and be served almost on the spot. I reckon the waiting time is probably the same, or queuing up might be faster if you have alot of requests.

Even before it was my turn to be served, i knew something good was leading on, at 2pm, the place was packed like sardines and the queue had been a constant 10 people from the time i ate till i left.

This time, the Wife had this to say.

"Now, this would bring out the full hoard of “oohs, aahs and mmms”. This is what I call
a REAL MEAL. The ayam rempah is excellent and sambal with lots of onions, just my

Just look at the gorgeous chick, i mean chicken and you know you have found yourself a gem in disguise. It did not die in vain. Although i would have liked them to serve it with more "rempah" for that extra shiokness. She of course didn't say that the rice was fragant with coconut and she happily devoured 3/4 of the rice, leaving me a spoonful or two to "taste".

Delicious i tell you, if i had calories to waste, it has to be here.

Address and contact details:

This my friend is Halal! Although i did notice the cashier was chinese, opened by chinese as well, i wonder? Who cares, the nasi lemak is good.

Opening Hours: 7 am to 8pm daily

7 am to 6 pm on Sunday/Public Holiday

Verdict: 4 stars out of 5 stars. The nasi lemak is good but you do pay a price, with the huge drumstick (equivalent to 2 normal sized chicken), prepare to part with RM6.50. Add sotong as well and the plate of nasi lemak is RM11, 11 times more expensive their RM1 packets you ate during mornings before work.

Wife ended her comment by saying "Sayang, sayang, i love you!"

Not sure whether she is referring to the nasi lemak or me, oh well.

Oh now you got me craving again.
I went til there, then ended up at Wondermilk for cupcakes only.
Think this should be the best, given the accolades from that street food award given not long ago.

u r so lucky :) normally I would park illegally if I ate here during peak hours & risked being summoned by our friendly MBPJ officer.. lol! Did any car block yours when you were leaving? coz this place is notoriously famous for double parking (pretty sure you noticed this too).
Yeah... queue-ing up is the fastest way to get whatever you want.. as in easier if you want to tambah lauk!
Hmmmm... I beg to differ la.. the Chinese lady's husband is a Chinese (unless I'm blind coz I swear that I see a Chinese guy everytime).
Next time try their Nasi Dagang.. one of the most authentic version I've ever tried. Also their teh tarik.. maybe you'd love it

"Joe" who is constantly craving said...

leo: tried the teh tarik, its ok la had better, dont think i will ever reach the nasi dagang! about the husband, i cant say, only saw the chinese lady at the cashier.

I'm glad you liked it. I'm happy to have the place right across from my office. Go there at least once a week. I adore the ayam too. Betcha there's ganja in there!

I believe both hubby (usually at the back of the shop) and wife (always at the counter, immaculately prim and proper - still speaks cantonese if you speak to her!) ... are Muslim Chinese.

So muhibbah ;-)

The food here rocks, my parents love it, I love it, wifey loves it ... ayam here rocks, and the nasi lemak is goooooooood.

I miss home ... :-(

Cheers from 44c Abu Dhabi!

A close fren just went to this restaurant during last weekend (10th July 2010 - about 9 am), and told us about a very bad experience with the boss of this Village Park restaurant. From what she told us, anyone that heard about the incident will feel angry on the way they are treated. The chinese lady boss (the one in red t-shirt in 1 of the pictures above) drove in to the parking space where they put all the tables and chairs, almost hit my fren's companion. When my fren told her nicely that she should've asked the staffs to inform earlier instead of just driving in immediately without warning. The lady boss shouted at her and the conversations are roughly like following:

my fren: Boss, just now u drove in ur car suddenly almost hit my fren. Actually next time you can ask your staff to inform us to move earlier.
lady boss: what? isn't your fren alright now?
my fren: yes, she is alright but your car almost hit her.
male boss came out from the restaurant: (in loud voice) FUCK!! WHAT DO YOU WANT NOW ???

my fren: I dun want anything, I'm just trying to ask you to inform earlier. Why are you shouting, is this how you treat your customers?
lady boss: I treat ALL my customers with "respect"
my fren : I dun wan to argue with u, u can continue to do anything u like, this will be my last visit here
lady boss: GO AWAY
her husband with little misai follows and shouted : GOoo AWAY !!

Then my fren was angry now, and then just went to pay at the counter.
my fren : Don't add in the service tax, there is no service at all.
lady boss (with loud voice) : sure

my fren paid the amout and wanted to leave
male boss (pointing outside) : wah, eat so little only, dont come again!
lady boss added: yea, you don't come we still have a lot of other customers.

when they said this, all the customers in the restaurant were shocked too.

The above is a true incident that happened. And many other customers were there to witnessed this. I'm not sure about you all, but after hearing this I have told my family and friends that we decided to boycott this uptown Village Park nasi lemak despite how nice it is.
