Nathalie Gourmet Studio Macarons @ Solaris Dutamas, KL

Lesson 1: Never leave the house not knowing where to eat.

Lesson 2: Never attempt to go to a place that sounds near but it is in actual fact no where near.

Lesson 3: Don't attempt to bring whether the Wife, Girlfriend or date to a merry go round, trying to find a place. Even after a call to the Queen.

Lesson 4: Don't trust the restaurant opening times.

---

Where do you want to go for lunch? The Wife replies: I am not that hungry, as you wish. Hmm, shall we go to a new place? [Lesson 1: Never leave the house not knowing where to eat.]

I hate how the property developers attempts to sell their products by naming their area with a familiar word. Just sit down and think how many places have a word "Sunway", "Damansara" and now even "Solaris"!

So to go to Solaris Dutamas, you have to past by Solaris Mont Kiara and before that you have to drive through Mont Kiara or you can always go through Jalan Duta to Solaris Dutamas. See what i mean with the play on words!? [Lesson 2: Never attempt to go to a place that sounds near but it is in actual fact no where near]

Bottom line, read carefully and really carefully.

Nathalie Gourmet Studio at Solaris Dutamas is hard to find. Short of being a maze, this new "area" comprises of 4 blocks, with Block A facing Duta Tropika. To come from the Mont Kiara direction, ignore the first sign of "Solaris Dutamas" and go on the main road till you see the shop lots. If not, you will turn into an incomplete construction site which is short of calling it a hazardous maze. [Lesson 3: Don't attempt to bring whether the Wife, Girlfriend or date to a merry go round, trying to find a place. Even after a call to the Queen.]

Once you find the front row of shop lots, head towards Heidelberg Kaffeehaus and start going up the escalators all the way till you find it. Alternatively, we walked around in circles, found Pink Sage, go up another flight of escalators, walk right till you find another flight of escalator, go up and you should be there.

To only be greeted with "Sorry, lunch is only being served at 12pm" [Lesson 4: Don't trust the opening restaurant times (Nathalie is opened from 9am but obviously don't serve lunch till lunch time, duh)]

Sadly, it was not meant to be. The Wife had turned from not hungry to ravenous, almost storming out down to the Pink Sage for a big big breakfast (another post for another day). However, i still had time to pack away a few, well more like a dozen of macarons.

Green, Yellow or Purple?

Lets have the whole bunch!

I don't know how good the food is but the macarons are good. Sweet, yes but i have always been a firm believer that desserts are meant to be sweet and should stay sweet. The flavours come through naturally when you take in the first bite, from the generous filling sandwiched in between two layers of egg white "biscuit". Out of the 13 pieces, i had the lime, black sesame, chocolate, grape and i have lost count.

Whether you have it with a cup of tea or coffee or as a gift or simply as dessert, macarons seem to fit the bill.

If only, it was more affordable. After asking a piece of each flavour, i realised a small baby will set you back RM4.40 ++. You can do the maths to see how much the above box had cost me.

I think the macarons do deserve a 3.5 stars out of 5 stars eventhough i know some have complained that it is quite sweet. Now time to try the food! Listen to my warning when i say this place is hard to find!

What a beautiful colourful collection of goodies! :)

Missing a few colours but it's almost like capturing a rainbow in a box.

Yumeh. I think you should mention that the queen gave you perfect directions, but you took her too literally. LOL. Once you know where Solaris Dutamas is, it's actually quite easy to get there, no? I go there quite frequently because parking is free and the shops are not too crowded. :-D

"Joe" who is constantly craving said...

ll: yes i took your orders too literally!! haha actually it was more like, i didnt ask further, man ego i tell ya, its really does screw things up!

The macarons are NOT RM4.4++ but RM4.4nett. When you see the work and the quality of the products they use it's definitively worth it !!

Regarding the opening hours, the lesson is to check / ask before you go ! Breakfast is between 9am to 11:30am, Lunch starts at noon till 3pm, then you have the Hi-Tea till 6:00pm. They also open for dinner twice a month
