Ben & Jerry's @ Dempsey Hill, Singapore

I don't know if you have noticed, public cravings for ice-cream should be hitting through the roofs right now (at least for me). The weather is so freaking hot and humid, making you sweat out the calories as you consume them and worse still gets you reaching for something cold and refreshing.

If you are disciplined, ice cold water might do the mirage trick, but if you are human like me, the first thing that pops up to mind (other than soft drinks) is ice-cream.

In Malaysia, i must say we have improved from the days of Swensen, Baskin Robbins and Häagen-Dazs, with the recent influx of good gelatos, think Bar Italia, Gelatomio Lounge, Gelatissmo and etc etc.

But what if i wanted something young, fresh and cool? [By no means am i referring to a replacement for the Wife, if you are wondering]

Well, does Ben & Jerry's sound familiar? Don't be too alarmed, the name sounded like a sequel to Tom and Jerry, Ben probably being the new dumb cat. Blame that thought for being down under where there are plenty of good ice cream in the first place. Ask someone from UK and you would likely get answers like "oh, eaten tubs of these during my university years".

I don't know, i tried it, and loved it.

Unfortunately in Malaysia, i have only come across a few supermarkets like Mercato and Jaya Grocer that sells them by the tub and we do not have any retail outlets. Another wish for the F&B industry?

But the bloody neighbour down south.. (please don't take offense, its obviously a clear case of jealousy)

Look at them!!

As an act of jealousy, i should have just driven the van away or maybe not.

With funky flavours like Phish Food, Chunky Monkey, Chocolate Fudge Brownie and many more, i was literally in Chocolate Heaven! Get served by young cute girls giving you the biggest smile, i can see why it was quite crowded for a weekday night. Like my friends describe "a sausage fest".

Guys or Sausages aside, I certainly melted over the two scoops of chocolate related ice-cream sitting comfortably inside a waffle cone. The experience doesn't come cheap, almost SGD 11.90 to be exact. However for once, i am actually not going to complain about the prices because i loved the ice-cream.

Obviously, i am not even going to bother telling you where it is; it is in bloody Singapore and it is not in Malaysia, I am bitter and i am sore.

Verdict: 4 stars out of 5 stars. Who doesn't like a something sweet and cold in this kind of crazy weather? It is like a match made in heaven.

Love 'em. Always visit the one in Raffles Shopping Mall whenever I'm in Singapore.

And yes, they have the tendency to employ young cute girls. Haha.

i remember buying tubs of ben & jerry's at the 7-11 at jln gasing, once upon a time! my favorite flavor was always chocolate chip cookie dough. but yeah, if only they'd start a franchise biz here...

I think I can throw away all those local brands in my freezer now after looking at your photos... :P Anyway, those were for my shakes during this crazy weather. LOL!

Ooh, I got such a bad case of ice-cream envy now. :P

Though, I did have tons of fresh gelato in Europe recently, so that helps stave off some of this patriotic envy somewhat. :P
