Mart 130 @ South Melbourne

Mart 130? or Tram 130?

Or was it Mart 130 at Tram station 130?

A quick read online turns out to be a play on the word "tram" station 130 which subsequently created Mart 130.

Weather in Melbourne was kind and gentle despite the sun. With a breeze here and there, it kept us cool enough to enjoy our brunch outside.

Coffees were alright but i had better. The chai didn't have the oomph while a latte was burnt.

Breakfast though looked scrumptious and tasted well, very close there.

Lovely poached eggs and bacon served with avocado spread on toast. So tempted to reach across the table for some, but the mind is strong. Before i knew, it was polished off except for a small piece of bacon which claimed to be on the rather skinny and dry side.

The original plan was to order the smoked salmon with the poached eggs, until i saw what was on the blackboard specials (although that said, this looked gorgeous)

Instead of smoked salmon, i took the smoked kippers. They tasted just as good and came extra smoky. The bearnaise sauce, needless to say was licked clean (along with the poached eggs).

Someone ordered the omelette so huge that one would wonder how many eggs had gone into making it.

Unfortunately the ending was kind of pre-mature. The pancakes, instead of being fluffy was very thick and the generous toppings wasn't exactly very generous after spreading it around the pancakes. Best you order poached eggs.

Love the place for the location, the eggs, and just the whole ambience.

Verdict: 3.5 stars out of 5 stars. Slightly disappointed with the coffee and the sweet stuff but the poached eggs dishes (didn't i just mention poached eggs?) are so hearty that you just want to laze around after that for many hours.
