Its funny how every holiday as far as i can remember since i bought my DSLR, would involve lugging the camera bag around and giving me aching shoulders by the end of the trip.
I must admit that with a DSLR you get moments down on pictures to revisit, but the whole point is to enjoy first hand and not from the pictures. Alot of memory is lost between the moments where you have to say "eh wait, let me take picture first".
This time around, i decided that the camera and shoulder will get to rest.
I must say holidaying without a DSLR gives you a totally different experience. I can walk down the streets without saying i need to stop to take out the camera. I don't have to find restaurants with good lighting and the need to snap away.
I don't have to cover my camera bag when the ocassional drizzle starts.
I can just blend in to the crowd that i used to be among just a few years ago.
All in all a good short deja vu trip.
Now, back to work.

That's why I'd always carry a P&S with me no matter what. The P&S is compact enough to bring out in the night and brought out in an instant to capture any "syiok sendiri" and cam-whoring moments.
I need a holiday now.
I oso want a holiday now. *whine*
(Bleh. Monday. BLEH.)
(Oh, welcome back to KL, Joe! good to hear that you had a fun holiday.... )
j: haha wasnt much of a holiday, more like a wkend trip.
qwazymonkey: tat still, i think i must get a damn slim p&s..haha..but you know what they say, once you go black, you dont go back (dslr is in black mah)
How true. sometimes when I go to restaurants, I felt compelled to snap photos. but there are times when I feel that the tendency to shoot my food mars the dining experience. so it's indeed liberating when I leave my P&S at home instead.
Its is true, we need to differentiate between holiday and take photo purpose. Otherwise we can't enjoy both of them. Travel Photography
chan: yeah yeah..
j2kfm: nice to just dig in rite? hehe
yeah i once went on a holiday with a friend who insisted on stopping to take photos of EVERYTHING. it drove me nuts, and we ended up doing separate activities after only a couple of days...

Happy Blog Birthday! Hope u drank them dry of champers!
Which DSLR brand you carry?
I know that feeling coz my friends are always irritated at me for whipping out the DSLR before they can dig in.
I just love the controls that the DSLR can offer to take a creative food pic. However, like you said, lugging it around can be a pain... Imagine when you have to carry your flash, and some other lens as well.
Time to shop for a good camera bag!
Olympus E-P1, Panasonic Lumz DMC-GF1..Heheheh. Dat's why ppl actually exclaim when I take my Camera out. Especially A2...sarky fella :P
I do tend to save my camera for special occasions, these days a phone camera pretty much does the job as well.
unkaleong: need to get a better camera phone now..haha..
