Yoke Yat Bak Kut Teh @ Jalan Imbi

Truth to be told ever since i had my first taste of klang Bak Kut Teh, i could never really stomach the KL version. When you have the best, why settle for anything less?

However not everyone is as lucky (or unlucky) as me to travel to Klang so very often to visit their loved ones (or to eat Bak Kut Teh), so sometimes the KL version would have to do.

So whenever my father has a craving for Bak Kut Teh, this is usually where we go.

Less commercialised than Sun Foong which is down the street, equipped with menus and japanese writing too, this place also dishes out fish heads, stir fried or steam.

The soup can get on the sweet side but never as densed as the Klang ones although the meat is just as tender minus all the fats making it a healthier option.

You can also go for the claypot option with the works.

I recommend the stir fried fish head with chillies, black beans, ginger and other assorted ingredients. Goes very well with rice.

Prices are more expensive which starts from around RM 12-14 per pax minus the accompanying fried crullers and tau foo poks. So a meal will still set you back RM20 odd. Thats the price you pay when you are far away from the great Klang Bak Kut Teh and eating it in Jalan Imbi.

Look, there even have a website!

Address and contact details:

23 B-25 B, Jln Medan Imbi,
off Jalan Imbi, Kuala Lumpur.

Verdict: 3.5 stars out of 5 stars. A place to satisfy cravings if you are around the area.
