What is breakfast to you?

We were taught by the fathers, mothers and the yodas that breakfast is the most important/crucial/sacred meal of the day.

Just take a look at how many "wisdom of thoughts" surround the issue of breakfast like "eat like a king for breakfast, pauper for dinner" and "never miss breakfast".

In reality though, how many of us indulge in a healthy and filling breakfast?

I mean we are talking about equally important things like sleep and convenience versus breakfast which would probably spark a debate and rage of the Red T- Shirts.

But lets say i do want to eat a healthy breakfast, what can i possibly eat? Just this morning, i opened the fridge and i am faced with nothing more than a couple of eggs.

What kind of breakfast could i possibly make? Scramble? Sunny side up? Hard boil? Soft boil?

If not, could i do a drive thru to McDonalds or take away a pack of nasi lemak? Well thats hardly a healthy breakfast being preached since the yesteryears, so thats not really an option, or is it?

In the end? 2 hard boil eggs with a squirt of Japanese Mayo that should last to office.

How i am looking forward to finishing off the hard boiled eggs (unless i can actually make an effort to go stock up food during the weekends) and actually going out for a proper breakfast instead of just looking at pictures like the ones below; breakfast on Sundays @ Delicious.

How i would die for an Egg Hollandaise, yum yum @ Delicious, Dua Annexe

Or you can throw me a pesto seafood pasta for an early morning carb feast!

Why not throw in some a live band dishing out soothing melodies while i dig into breakfast too?

Definitely a good breakfast place.

[The pictures were taken with a Sony Ericsson C905, 8 megapixels worth, my sister's new stylo milo handphone. Looks like i have been spoilt with the DSLR all this while and can banish the dreams of taking food pictures with a phone.]

So back to the original topic, how many of you had a proper breakfast this week?

By the way for those who want to advise on what to eat for breakfast, don't ask me to eat oatmeal, you health freaks out there.

Breakfast is my favourite meal of the day! And I'm not proud to say that I skip pretty much 5 days a week. On weekends though, fry-ups, champagne, the whole works done at home OR a hearty bowl of Pan Mee usually does the trick!

Alas no fancy makan for me today, bog-standard Nasi Lemak with Ayam Goreng ala Unhealthy :-(

Yest'days trip to market hawker stall and "economy" meehoon was much better, slurp!

Darn... the picture qual on the 8 megapix Sony is awesome!

i haven't had brekkie in years. on weekdays, i can barely wake up in time for work. on weekends, i catch up on sleep and snooze till afternoon. btw, i also skip lunch everyday due to work and laziness. so dinner is honestly my only meal.
those eggs look really great. sadly i've never managed to try them at delicious since they're not available for dinner. :(

I'm not a health freak, but I love the taste of my cereal with muesli every morning. So delicious! And a cup of hot coffee to go. Perfect.

Growling tummy is my morning wake up call. It calls for carbo and yes, I answer it voraciously with roadside stalls. Been trying to discipline self to do healthy breakfasts but oats are just so so blerghh.

Me! Me!! I had proper breakfast... wholegrain bread with fruit jam, or Nutella spread (I'm a chocoholic)...with a cup of steaming hot Milo Kosong (buatan sendiri).
Thinking of getting a few cannes of Tuna + wholegrain cereal this weekend for next week's breakfast!!! Lol...

My stomach doesn't wake up for breakfast till past 10am very morning, which means i can't stomach anything oily in the morning. A cup of yoghurt is all I need. :)

Breakfast to me is normally two toasted slices of bread with either jam/kaya/cheese or if I have it, ham in the middle...Almost always with a cup of coffee.

Nothing fancyful during weekdays, just toast and egg and the must have cup of coffee.
Weekends will chow down whatever I can get my hands on...that's the wonder of weekends.

Let me say it categorically this early morning , the myths of breakfast or not in the mornings is a modern scam perpetuated by some Western Health Freaks/Marketing Gurus to force feed their supreme scientific mis-thesis/self-serving economic agendas on the ignorent public. For anytime is a good time to eat , as long as you eat right !

LOL !'

What a big load of bollarx.

1) modern scam? The term itself dates back to the 16/17th century and the act dates further back in history e.g. references of breaking fast in the Qur'an and Bible. But as a marketing man, I'm sure only you know how forward thinking people were back then!

2) Health Freaks? It is a fact that people who eat breakfast are less likely to develop diabetes, heart disease and or become obese than people who skipped meals. In fact, a recently concluded study on people trying to lose weight, the people who ate breakfast were more successful in losing weight than those who skipped breakfast. By eating breakfast you stabilize your blood sugar and are less prone to snacking. You can skip lunch (or eat very little) but breakfast is in fact the most important meal of the day. Of course what do I know, I am not a doctor...
