Blame it on my friend too, for the times of supper when one would want a drink and chit chat has been moved from the old school common mamak stalls to the higher end of RM10++ franchise coffee cafes, where latte and cappucino sounds like roti canai and teh tarik to a mamak stall.
So when everyone was talking about Murni while i was sipping on Latte, i thought i had to go back to my original roots and (save a few RM along the way). What is more convenient then, to come back to the mamak scene with an invitation from a friend to go "lim teh" there at SS2?
Murni is unfortunately not just your everyday average joe mamak. It believes that it is more then that and some of their dishes shows, or so they think.
Cheese Naan (filled with gooey cheese), dip it with condensed milk or chicken curry if you so prefer.
Find Roti Canai boring? How about stuffings of minced chicken sausages and eggs? Then squeeze mayo all over. To be honest, the novelty is there, the taste though is just what it is, roti canai filled with cheap sausages. If i ever had to indulge in something sinful, i rather have my roti telur or roti bom.
Clean it off with Mango Ice Blended. My friend finished it till the very last drop.Address:
Somewhere around the main square of SS2, if not find the street littered with tables and chairs, and many people too.
Verdict: 3 stars out of 5 stars. If the trend is Murni, the cooler mamak, than i suppose i don't mind being cool once in awhile and hang out here with my cheese naan. Though i very much rather stick to my good old maggi goreng and roti canai (when the calorie count allows) or give me my latte (skim milk, is barely 100 odd calories, ok)

Murni should make a menu lah... outsiders like us how to know what they have? (which basically, is everything under the sun!!!).

The more we earn, the more we spend... Should save more...

OK, that's just me being drama. My friend just show me where to get the best pizza, best risotto, best indian food, best chinese foot, best steak....so many "best" that I can't remember!
One of the SS2 institutions, for sure....and always packed with people. These flers must be raking in the cash!
Murni...I've still yet to try this place. It has been in my hot list for 2 yrs d, thanks to the forever packed place.
Murni.. Not like a mamak yet still is mamak.. arghh.. I like their "lou shu fun" and Kiwi Special.. lol
jc: yeah..i suppose the roots r still very "mamak"..
xlb: haha..go earlier lor..10pls still got seat 1..not any later though..
ll: should ask IRB to give them a visit soon hor?
mh: appreciate the indian food in adelaide..its way better then the 1s in KL..
kok: easy to say..easy to type..BUT DAMN HARD TO DO LA!
j2kfm: hmmm got menu means very touristy d..haha..
tigerfish: yeap..cheese naans!
The novelty is there, in the beginning, but as a former resident of SS2, I can tell you the tastebuds would not encourage one to return. It's just bleahh after awhile.
Obviously the masses disagree, and as LL puts it, they are raking in the moolah....
if i eat all THAT, then clean it up with a mango ice blended, you will see the entire contents of my stomach, on the FLOOR! lol... wa... eating like that is like eating for hard labour.. (working on railway track or construction site...) !
i never liked chain mail, n never participate in them. but i've just tagged u.
I used to like eating the roti hawai. And wash it down with a "pink panther". The loh shi fun is not bad, but I still prefer his brother (William's) version.
yeah, no point eating cheap sausages in roti canai surely...wasted calories. however do you stay so slim, nipples.
the cheese good quality or not?
I had bad experience at Murni...Nobody bother us after we sit there for almost 5 mins, then we ciao to his bro's place (William) =.="
mimi: hahah williams even more expensive! with his seafood pasta..
fbb: haha those packet cheese slice? me stay slim? ohh those love handles love me too much to leave me..
bangsarbabe: hmmm i dunno..i will go try n tell u..which 1 prefer..
terri: haha i read..will c la ar..
c&c: i thought u do construction work at the gym (looking at that tanned toned body)...dont you?
lob: want to be cool mah...no?
I'm constantly craving too!! wait...more like constantly hungry :)
That cheese naan looks really good!! You made me crave for Indian food!
If you think that Murni's Cheese Naan is nice, wait till you try William's 3 Cheese Naan, it's supposedly consists of Mozarella, Cheddar and can't remember the other type of cheese. It's even gooier than Murni's ;)
liz: i actually tried williams normal cheese naan..not the 3 cheese naan though..hmmmm maybe shud go n try again..n review!
hamster: wat u waiting for??
no claypot loh shue farn for you? it's one of the highlights of murni. actually hor, i think mamak is da place to be cos it's so malaysian! nowhere else can we find this kinda place. i'm lovin' it. ;D
Joe, William's is better. At least a better place to yum cha if you r not looking for leng luiz. Try their Gordon Blue Beef goes with MAccarone or anything u like. Try their Mozarella Ham Naan. Try their Seafood spaghetti cook with Olive oil. If you are super hungry can try their Soft Shell crab fried rice. More pricey of course but for sure it is affordable for ppl who visit Coffee cafe for nim teh session. :D
nic: dis was after the tasting session at crystal jade..how to eat so much wor!
ggmu: williams pasta n etc dishes are all around 20-30rm..which is also damn pricey for seating in the middle of the road..no doubt it comes in big portions..will love to do a review of it 1 day again..
been so long nv go there, i think the bro stall (williams) serves food faster than murni
Wow I don't know what to make of that canai - on one hand, I feel my health disintegrating just looking at it; on the other hand, mayo and sausages, on top of all that ghee of a normal roti... inspiring!
YOU? JOE? MURNI??????
I am a traditionalist.

the Ribena lychee also not bad wat ~
ling239: haha got secret recipe ar? dunno..i tried the ribena at williams..

apparently they're famous for their claypot lou shu fun?? somehow i don find it that great to my liking...
i love their mango ice blended..
hahahah
lol despite frequent trips to ss2, i've only tried murni early this yr-- and had the exact same things u had sans the mango ice blended (in place was teh tarik i think).
free to meet up this coming wk (wkday) after work? ;)
jun: im damn tired from a hectic weekend..reply to ur fb thread later..ok?
michelle: nvr try although alot of ppl seem to order the claypot..
henry: health conscious?
I wan cheese naans too!
just like the tangy taste of thosai better, and they seldom do funky things with thosai compared to Roti XXX
I am glad to see this blog. I passed this place last month on my visit and wondered what the crowd was about, and also why they were using jars for glasses!
the cheese naan is droolworthy ler.. and I used to eat the claypot lou shi fun religiously thanks to the sambal. but i think that standard of the food has gone down since those college days....
You forgot to mention Roti Beckham, Roti Hawaii, and claypot loh su fun.
Kor Kor Joe, you so gotta try their Roti Hawaii, Mee Raja Siam, Claypot Loh Shu Fan, Soft Shell Crab fried rice, omg I'm getting hungry!
michelle: eh hold ur horses! err the mayo laden roti canai mah, roti hawaii lor?

They even have special edition Roti for the Olympic season which called Roti Dragon !!!
And recently I try out their new burger called Triple H which consist of Chicken Burger Patty, Sausage on a 3 layered bun with egg in between.
Not to forget their spaghetti meatball. 1 plate enough for 2 1/2 girls meal.
This place is the dirtiest outlet in whole of Petaling Jaya. It have receive numerous summons without taking any actions to tidy the place up. It was even highlighted in the Star newspaper. In the article it show you some areas in Murni, you won't have anymore appetite after you seen it.
email2me: ouch..sounds bloody sinful hor..
larry: i dont doubt that statement 1 bit..one eye close..
