I remember catching 2 hours of sleep, the night before, and we kicked off on our 8 hour long journey in a convoy of 95 cars, to search for answers among the shoplots and signboards. Clues that do not give a clue, an answer that does not appear to be an answer.
What a workout for the brain, so time to let it rest by having some food down at Jonker Street.
At the auspicious Jonker 88, we had their famous Cendol, in all forms of customisation, the base of shaven ice and gula melaka is then added with durian paste (if you so wish) or in the other extreme end, you can have all the ice kacang ingredients in (if you so wish too). At RM 2 for the cheapest one, i think, its a bargain especially with the hot sun.
Trying a seafood laksa from the same place, i noticed the addition of tuna, which gives a fishy smell. Then again, if you must know, tuna is a good source of protein, so eat up the chunks! The soup on the other hand is not overly spicy and is rather tangy. Not the best tasting thing, but then again after driving 8 hours without a proper meal, thank god and finish it up.
On the way, back couldn't help noticing the pineapple tarts, a box of 20 odd pieces going for RM11-12 (about 50 cents a piece). Very loose with a good sizeable amount of filling, pop it in as you walk along the street and in front of the TV.Pictures taken using a Nikon D80 (i think)
Location:
Jonker Street, Melaka.
