Food for Thought on a busy Monday

Do you ever affiliate certains things with other things?

Or to be more precise, do you affiliate food with other objects, places or maybe even brands (well brands are abit obvious?)

Is it really the power of advertising and marketing then, that we form such a perception? Or is it really the love of food that we affiliate them as much as possible with other parts of our life?

I mean it is now part of our everyday life to affiliate places with their speciality dishes i.e. our states in Malaysia; Ipoh for their smooth chicken and bean sprouts OR Melaka for their Cendol and Satay Celup; restaurants like McDonalds for their burgers and so on and so forth.

Those were the obvious ones.

But i realise the power of affiliation was so subconsciously more powerful, when last week i needed a cup of coffee before my Italiannies review with 20 minutes to go.

Being lazy i wanted a place nearby the restaurant and i remembered Borders was around.

When one mentions Borders, I for one, immediately affiliated it with StarBucks.

BUT Bookstore and Coffee?

Not the best of coffees, but enough to give me a caffeine boost for stay awake.

Have you got any less obvious food related affiliations?

They have this cafe inside the Times Bookstore in Pavilion. Same as the patisserie in Hartamas Shopping Center, San Terri (if I'm not mistaken). Kekeke...maybe u can do a review on that too...

They had the dark cherry mocha frappe at Starbucks for awhile...then they took it off...coz its a seasonal wor..or was it Coffee Bean..I'm not very sure la. Not a Coffee junkie...but I remember having it before.

Funny how you mentioned Borders and Starbucks together...There is a Borders bookstore in Manchester, and within it is a Starbucks cafe.

Errrmmmm... Sushi with Sushi King or Genki Sushi (now known as Sakae Sushi).

I love Starbucks esp when I'm at Borders where I can grab a book, a cup of pick-me-up coffee and then READ without paying for it.

Other bookstore outlets such as MPH triple-wrap their books until you can't sample it.. :-(
