California Pizza Kitchen @ KLCC

I had no idea that camera phone pictures still exists in my flickr album. Usually if that is the case, i would ignore and move on, but the food that we ate that day, deserves a mention.

Good or bad?

Unfortunately this is a case of bad over very bad.

Californian Pizza Kitchen.

I am a person who believes in food should always be eaten in its original form; pasta and pizza made from an Italian and not a USA franchise. Oh well since there were a few decent reviews, and everywhere in KLCC was crowded with a capital C, we dropped by.

Now what happened next is beyond any one's imagination.

My friend and I ordered the Chicken Tequila Fettucine.

The dish tasted alright, with a tangy sauce and a huge serving, i was actually enjoying it when i saw my friend playing with his food. So i asked, "why?"

"No taste at all, wtf"

"Eh, this is quite good what, you try some of mine?"

"Shit, why so different one?"

"True enough, his dish looked rather pale and watery, without any taste, if it was as if the bottle of sauce had finished, and someone decide to dilute the bottle with some warm water to maximise the use of the bottle.

After taking it back and waited another 20 minutes, another plate appeared, watery but with a hint of orange, at most 40% of what it looked like of my plate.

The taste was getting there, but by then, my good natured friend gave up. We enquired and they looked at the plate and asked what was wrong.

The best reply was "Why dont you try first and see if it is the same, it should be the same". Does the chef not taste his/her food before it is served?

How could two different plates of pasta turn out so different??

The Californian Club Pizza. The crust was thin but the ingredients were sparsed other then the thin slice of avocado that lied on top of each slice. Not cheap too, may i add.

A Waldorf Salad that came with a blue cheese dressing. The pungent dressing put off my mom, but i loved the addition of walnuts that gives the salad a nice crunchy angle.

Suria KLCC 1st Floor

Verdict: 2.5 stars out of 5 stars. Prices are not cheap, each pasta and pizza dish exceeds RM30 when service charge and tax is added on. With the inconsistency that we encountered, it will be VERY unlikely that i come back anytime soon. You can definitely get better italian cuisine within a 5 minute drive from KLCC unless you have to eat pork free italian food, of course.

oh no... poor you! That's funny because check out the pizza which we ate at the same place (from my blog) http://cumidanciki.blogspot.com/search?q=california+pizza

The pizza was bursting with cheese and ingredients! It was rather good!

I think it's a case of bad QC. i.e. sometime good, sometimes lousy. They better shape-up or people will stop eating there.

oh and we nearly stepped inthe other day, hearing so many rave reviews on the place.
but ended up at Chili's.

yeah, CPK not cheap, but they've so many branches all over the world. saw some in HK also.

O dear, how come so extreme??? We went some time Deepavali holiday. The food was ok, not as bad as you mentioned.

But, it's over price as far as I concern. Agree?

It used to be quite good a couple of years back. The peperoni pizza was pretty good back then.

Haven't gone back because it's quite expensive and the service sucked.

bangsar babe: yeah lor the service is definitely not great man..

That's sad to hear! Another piece of evidence suggesting the general decline of food chains - too much crappy food being served at overpriced outlets!

Hmmm.. I only went to this place with a whole lot of folks (around 20+) and enjoyed the meal we had but that was 1 yr ago.

Perhaps it was a large group that they did not want to piss all of us off.

I would agree that the price is exorbitant. I have not returned to this place as I know of other places which are nicer for at least 1/2 the price.

skip it, there are better places to go.

Heyyy I love CPK! I have to admit the food's not cheap... what with the pizzas only coming in six slices and cost what 30 bucks each? But I've always remembered them as well flavoured and I loved the thin crust... oh and that starter... what was it called... some mediteranean bread thing... ah yes Hummus... yummm!

CPK's a Californian chain so I had it once in LA too, its practically everywhere in Cali actually so I guess they must be doing something right?

serena: they have got their branding right..well i wonder y after all this years, only KLCC has CPK?
