Zipangu Weekend Buffet @ Shangri La

It is all because of Edamame.

The poems and the songs, the praises and the godly cries of how under-rated the bean is.

I suppose this is my bit for the green mean bean.

Here you go, the oh glorious bean. Did you know the sufferings i had to go through with my stomach on the verge of eruption? But i told myself that i should not abandon your chance of the camera limelight?

---

Of course, the bean was the end but the mere beginning of the visit to Zipangu.

The Weekend Lunch Buffet from 11.30am - 2.30pm for RM96++ per pax.

---

The buffet was all that you could ask for.

Quality and quantity.

Sashimi that you can take without guilt. Sushi not made from machines but mere mortal hands that are probably more delicate then you and i.

Tempura that is freshly deep fried; prawns and assorted vegetables. The batter was on the thick side but then again, it is all you can eat prawns, who is to complain if the batter was maybe a 1mm or 2mm thicker then it should be?

And when the lady (The Girlfriend) is willing to pose for a picture, even if it is her oh glorious hand, it is a sign that the food was probably good enough to let me take my pictures without the oh piercing stare telling you the food is getting cold. Who is to care, if there is so much more food outside there?

Soba? Not a problem

Sukiyaki? Not a problem too!

Want a taste of everything, not a problem too!

Wipe your palate clean with a dish of strawberries and cream. Oh so wicked cream but who is to care when you all are full and carefree and to see that bill of only RM96++ for two?

Value for money, to me at least but if you were to pay for the full price of RM96, it is definitely on the pricey side especially the selection is rather slim compared to gigantic buffet lines like Jogoya and etc.

Rating: 4 stars out of 5 stars.

No pork served. Plus point?

That was really a good deal!! At times i rather have quality than quantity. Speaking of Jogoya, variety a lot but i think i only attacked 1/4 of their food.

Value for money indeed! I should drag myself there too...since I have the Shang card as well. No green tea ice cream?

Hehe...the under appreciated edamame shines again. Looks like the weekend buffet is good value. Will try one day.

we agree that Jogoya is excellent - value for monies. however, Zipangu is slightly on the steeper side, from the sounds of things. did the buffet include alcohol e.g. sake?

full buffet menu please :P

when are your exams over?

one up for the edamames!
RM96 is a very good deal lar! even a dinner for 2 at some of those cafes will cost more than that! (with full course meal lar, of course...hehe)...

a good preview of the zipangu spread, me thinks!

Well, that's one way of filling up my lacklustre weekends --- with exotic edmamames and even more... ;)

i agree with precious pea. was gonna say that at jogoya, 70% of the stuff i wont bother touching....wonder if they still serve movenpick ice cream though? zipangu is always good. RM96 for a buffet of their standard is not bad...

ling239: i thought u had one?

jasmine: yes, who doesnt deserve a buffet once in a while..

daphne: need a breather from all this pages..i doubt i absorbed half!

fbb: somehow the Girlfriend and I came to a conclusion that food alone probably worth 60++ per pax la..i suppose Shangri la, got to pay premium lor..

I tried their buffet sometime ago and didn't quite like their cold trays of food - i remember even their tempura was cold and limp! From yr review, looks like they hv improved on their shortcomings eh?

A lot of good protein including the edamame! Nowadays, I choose not to take sushi for buffets coz I realized the rice makes me full very fast!

Shell (貝殼) said...

rm96++ for two which i think is very resonable, worth to try^^

"Joe" who is constantly craving said...

shell: yeah with the card it is definitely very reasonable

tigerfish: yes..way too much protein!

pureglutton: hmm tempura, get them fresh out of the wok, definitely wont be limp!..as for the cold appetisers, didnt touch, what for when you have all the sashimi!

henry: lets take it things 1 month at a time

michelle: sure boh?
