If there was only 1 thing i can eat, it would have to be..

A friend asked that night, if there was one thing you could eat, 3 meals a day for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Health freaks would say sandwiches, salads and porridge, whilst gluttons would say bak kut teh and duck rice.

Having had a thought about it, the perfect thing would be dim sum.

In many ways, dim sum doesn't just represent a cuisine, but it represents a lifestyle. Waking up to the morning or the afternoon sun, tucking into a nice comfortable chair to sip a nice lukewarm cup of tea while waiting for your dumplings to be steamed. Is that not the perfect life?

But what if i get bored? Simple, i go to a place where they never fail to change half the dim sum menu, while retaining the favourites.

The place is well, of course non other then Lai Po Heen @ Mandarin Oriental. Yes, true food lovers will disagree that halal dim sum is a sin and to please the "not-to-be-mentioned" religion.

What is dim sum without pork, some may ask?

Then again, why has eating turned out to be such a chore? If it tastes good, does that mean it still has to have pork before it is good? So long as that dumpling tastes good on its own, with no comparison and expectation, is all i am looking for.

I mean why stress?

I have reviewed Lai Po Heen before, so some random pictures for you to drool on..

A new dim sum dish.Seriously cant remember what it is called..

What looked like beef wrapped with a filling, turned out to be eggplant! This was not only creative but delicious.

Not to be overly confused in what they want to serve, there are the old school dim sum as well.

Fried radish cake.

The Yam Puff

Glutinous rice, served without the leaf or the bowl.

Succulent prawn dumplings (Har Kau)

Some prawn cheong fun to wrap it off.

So if i asked you for 1 item (well in my case it was a series of items, but same genre), what would it be? 3 meals a day and not knowing when you can change that fact?

My shoulder is so stiff, i can't sleep properly or move properly. Any remedy to recommend?

i love lai poh heen, although a bit pricey la hor. stiff shoulder? massage la. or salonplas by hitsamitsu... in the TV ad, these days all young ppl using, unlike the old days when grandmothers and grandfathers were the target market.

Dim sum is not 1 thing le...hahaha. I would use Salonpas for that shoulder or Yoko Yoke :o)

hmm.. dim sum is cheating answer-it means u hv ALOT of dishes to eat! LOL. Then again, those photos are a good reason.

Wah...you made a good choice for choosing dim sum. So wide variety, sure won't be bored for the rest of your life! Hahaha! For me, it would be nasi lemak.

we absolutely love the dimsum at mandarin, and don't care that it is halal... they huge ass prawns make up for it!

Let me know which remedy works, bro --- I'm currently suffering from a stiff right shoulder too. LL and FBB knows; I've been bitching to them about it. They suggest it's likely rheumatism... We're not that old yet, right? :P

Try this for your neck and shoulder for relief and prevention. Taught to me by a national snooker player. I used to have bad neck and bad shoulders. Now no more. Just 8 minutes. A few times a week will do the trick. Usu happens to older person. You must be pushing very hard and not sleep well. All the best.

1. Standing face forward, slowly turn head (still facing forward)to left till you feel that's the max comfortably. Make sure you feel stretchhhhed. Hold for 1 minute. Repeat by turning head right.

2. Lift up your head by tilting slowly backward till you feel its the max you can go. Hold for 1 minute. Then bow your head at the neck till max. 1 minute.

3. Place your right hand over your head on your left shoulder. Use your left fingers and pull your right hand further down at the location just above the right elbow. 1 minute. Repeat this for the other hand.

4. Raise your right arm at shoulder level and place right hand on left shoulder. Use left palm to push your right hand at location just above elbow till you feel stretched and taut at right shoulder. 1 minute. Repeat for the other hand.
