Chances are when your job is a "con"-sultant, you tend to wiggle your way through and end up with a steaming bowl of Bak Kut Teh with the aroma that invades and open up your appetite, well most of the times. Sometimes she leaves me hanging dry and the craving would have to be subside for some other edible breakfast.
As the ever "caring" Boyfriend, i have learnt why eating Bak Kut Teh for the Girlfriend can be quite a nightmare. Imagining eating it every weekend since you were young, i think i would have ended up in heaven by now but for her, i pity yet i cant control myself.
So the love for Bak Kut Teh was torn apart for the love belonging to the Girlfriend, when came in an old friend of mine that would drive fast and far for Bak Kut Teh. The mere fact that the Crazy Friend would throw another two strangers (well, almost) into the car, drive all the way and eat claypot meant for 8 people only shows how dedicated we were to this staple diet enjoyed by the Klang people.
Then when the Girlfriend thought she had relinquished her duties as the accomplice during the Bak Kut Teh sessions, the Crazy Friend decides to leave for greener pastures and i am back to the original days.
After the history of Bak Kut Teh and me, i would like to introduce a hidden gem among the throngs of Bak Kut Teh places for you guys. Problem is, i do not know the name nor street so the only way to savour this is via the photos or you will see what i attempt to do; recruit my crew for Bak Kut Teh sessions. The only clue is it is in Teluk Pulai, as in right in Teluk Pulai.
Serving extra thick soup, taking a whiff and you will realise that they take their soup seriously. Full of herbs and unlike the watery versions one would find in KL, this got me hooked immediately. The fact that a small little bowl was given made me embarassed after i got them to refill it once. So like any man filled to the brim with ego, he orders another bowl.
In addition to the soup, there serve a dry version, filled with chilli padi, some lady finger pieces and a thick dark soya sauce. It amazingly goes very well with rice, then again so does the soup version when you dunk spoonful of rice inside.
All in all, every Bak Kut Teh session is satisfying especially if you think about, there were servings meant for 4 and lets just say my accomplice probably had just enough for 1. Guess what, for only RM34 too!
Verdict: 4 stars out of 5 stars
So like i mention before, heavy recruitment for Klang Bak Kut Teh sessions is open now!
