Ocha-Cha @ Pavilion, Kuala Lumpur

We tend to think that the world lacks creativity. Shortage of people who can amaze and wonder us with their crazy ideas that we will never think of in our entire life.

Ocha Cha did just that. Since the olden days, well to me at least, green tea is meant to be dranked hot.

Soak some tea leaves into the water and let it settle down, aroma infused, colour obvious before you sip on it and listen to the soothing music. Then the impatient people who couldnt wait for it to cool down used ice, especially in places like Malaysia where it takes forever for anything to cool down unless you happen to be in a shopping complex with blasting air-con right under you. So there was cold green tea.

Then some smart alec decided that lets put milk in and see.

Green tea latte (RM11.50) Surprisingly, it is sweet enough without having to dunk sugar in it. Now that i mention it, i wonder where in the world does the sweetness come from? Green tea? Milk? Oh no, SUGAR?? A rule of thumb for me is no sugar in my drinks where i can avoid. So cafe latte, cappucino or green tea, no sugar.

No wonder i had a fun time sipping away at the toxic looking cup of milk which was surprisingly very nice.

A slice of "Dreamy Matcha" which would translate to green tea cheesecake (RM9). The cake was densed, but lack the flavour that should come out from the green tea. Maybe i should soak this in my latte before i attacked it. Other desserts that i tried, the brownies and the layered one with red beans fared better.

Address:
Lot 6.01.01
6th Floor
Pavilion Kuala Lumpur
Jalan Bukit Bintang

Verdict: 3 stars out of 5 stars. I actually dont mind the green tea latte but i find it too luke warm, i enjoy mine a wee bit hotter and a larger size would be more welcomed. Other then that, the novelty of having green tea (the healthy element) in my desserts doesnt seem to do me any good as i would probably indulge irregardless..

The Starbucks Green Frapp is addictive... nearly everyone I know who've tried it love it... and it's not nearly a noxious green as this one.

But. Sweet lah. You best warn them to omit the sugar, bro, if that's not your thing.

I like Ochacha! I always have the "parched"-sized cup because it only costs RM1 more and appeals to my kiasu nature. Its a great marketing ploy. RM1 more only Miss, can supersize already hor??

Haven't had the cold one, I usually have the green tea latte. The cakes are not great and pretty pricey for such a tiny sliver. But you should try that green tea muesli bar thing they have at the counter. Yummy!

"Joe" who is constantly craving said...

henry: hahaha well looks like super hard to convert u..

nic: funny though..is it milk?

paprika: i still think the parched size is still too small hahaha..

i find the sandwich and cake a total rip off..such small portion that i almost thought that it was a miniature display

I always thought that their cake to be small... "dreamy" indeed...

"Joe" who is constantly craving said...

kbcg: sandwich ar?? wouldnt touch it..i make huge sandwiches..

jason: ar..the true meaning of dreamy..

i love o-chacha! or anything with the green tea. i feel their strawberry cake is better than the azuki 1 (layered with red bean)

"Joe" who is constantly craving said...

ai wei: i dunno if i want to try their desserts anymore..

Eh, only 3 out of 5 stars? We like their drinks and desserts a lot. Especially their hot drinks, like it because it wasn't very sweet.

I love lattes. Do you think something like this would work for your green tea latte - latte matcha?
