Maybe not everyone has heard about that saying, but as another believe goes; If you are a Chinese, you got to eat rice.
Well apparently, i am not alone as the whole country of Malaysia favours rice as their staple diet of carbohydrates. Whether you eat in a Chinese restaurant, Indian restaurant or a Malay restaurant, you will find rice being served.
So it wasnt a surprise that we were served exactly that in Kanna.
Dont have to look far, here you go.
Dont have to look far, here you go.
A buffet of white fluffy rice, assorted vegetables, a pot of curry sauce and deep fried papadams. (RM 4.50)Enjoying it under the shade of trees and the natural unreliable air-con of the wind. Whenever i have the craving for the most simple staple food in Malaysia, i resort to banana leaf rice. Where else can one enjoy the carbs that is seen to be the most vicious enemy to human beings as they add inches to your waist?
A wholesome mutton curry (RM5) to add some protein to the meal. The hours of cooking has resulted in tender pieces sticking to the gravy like glue. If there was one request, more rice please.
The freshly fried calamari ring with a light batter, curry leaves and onions (RM7.50) was a delight to chew after taking a rest from the filling rice and curry. I definitely had no complaints other then the price i came to know later.Address and contact details:

Although this is the first time i have documented how i get my fix, i swear this shall not be my last time. The accompanying vegetables were not exactly very memorable and i had trouble getting them to refill me what was meant to be a "buffet" on a banana leave. Otherwise, the freshly fried seafood of fish, prawns and calamari was a delight to have.

kanna is one of the more expensive indian curry houses in town. i wudn't go back there, as, u're rite, there are better and cheaper alternatives.
Wah this place sound expensive. is it anyway exclusive?
OooOOooOoO char-siew spirit come a calling OoOoo .. no nitemare, caramelised sweet dreams guaranteed.
Had similar stuff at their Manjalara branch. Service was incredible as they kept 'shoving' their wares like the dimsum restaurants.
Yeah, it sounds a little expensive. I've been to restaurants like this at a similar price too, don't really think it's worth it.

w&e: well it depends on how one looks at it, we can spend over RM50 a meal and sometimes say its worth it, so why isnt any meal below that worth it? Then again, you can get cheaper..

I went there, after listening and reading all about this restaurant. Being a Malaysian Indian, I had travelled various parts to taste good Banana Leaf Restaurants.
Today, sunday May 11, 2008..My family and I went there. First instance, we were immediately "attack" by there waiters, with all sorts of "fried stuffs" on tray. And you knnow what, they have not even serve the Banana Leaf and rice. Immediately asked us, if you like..fried fish , chicken..etc etc.....
When food came and the fried fish came, phew...belive me..I had tasted better fried fish eleswhere and cheaper too. KANNA CURRY HOUSE IS CERTAINLY EXPENSIVE, AND THE FOOD...HMM....I WOULD SAY..GO FIND OTHER PLACES AND DONT GET CARRIED BY..THE TREMENDOUS PUBLICITY GIVEN TO THIS RESTAURANT. PLEASE SAVE YOUR MONEY, EVEN KARI KEPALA IKAN SENTUL IS A BETTER CHOICE, OR TRY SOME "HIDDEN" DELIGHTS AT JLN KG ATTAP, MAMAK STALL AT THE CORNER. FOOD IS CERTAINLY BETTER THERE AND CHEAPER.
I WILL NOT BE GOING TO KANNA CURRY HOUSE AGAIN.
Very shorts, simple and easy to understand, bet some more comments from your side would be great
Yes its a bit pricey, but personally i like the food very much!
