I finally realise how fun it is to pop by Air Asia website and choose some random place and time for a holiday. The tension to find the free promotional seats and the calculator with numbers flying here and there.
Finally it was decided that i should be flying there FREE excluding a stupid thing called airport taxes and paying RM70 for my return flight. Well well, it is still a great bargain for a first timer.
So for those experienced bargainers and travellers to Bangkok, hotel places, shopping places, eating places, PLEASE LET ME KNOW!
With that i shall leave it to my two girls to hog the rest of the lime light.

Whooo...another one going to Bangkok soon....I am wondering when will I be going...
Everyone's telling me the chaotic times in Bangkok...
oopps....don't want to spoil the mood:p
You will have a GREAT journey and have FUN!!
Looking forward to your pics and posts:D
erm...i know the ticket is FREE but aren't you need to pay appox. 200++ after adding tax and fuel surcharge for a two-way ticket??? amateur =P
Maybe Precious Pea should head the AAA club ..Air Asia Association, not Alcoholic Anonymous ah? LOL!
Eh, how can u miss out Chatuchak???
Chulalongkorn university near MBK is beautiful and it is the only university that has the royal family as it patron. (beware the 2 highways running through the campus). you can also take your time to gawk at the university uniform code.
I also forgot to mention, Thai massage. Do check out if they have any new practices that we may want to try out (instead of the standard 2 hours whole body thingy)
have a good trip joe...
i still prefer MAS lar (precious pea throwing pumpkin's poop at me)...but no complains on the price lar...chatuchak market, ping pong show, trans show, cheap booze, explicit t-shirts, glorious temples and of course, street food. stay tuned to my series of bkk posts after cny..hehe
Have a good time!
still plenty of time to gather all info u need.... ^_^
Buy ticket for me? I got 3 years experience?
1.) Go during a month end, Departmental Stores will always have a sale during that period.
2.) Go over a weekend. One word.
Jatujak.
3.) Try a thai massage at Bodytune
4.) Soi Cowboy ;) Just mention it to the taxi driver.
5.) Sirroco and Vertigo. KL's Luna bar pales in comparison.
haha guys..thanks for all the tips!!!
unfortunately yes, free tickets being free tickets, got to go on a weekday..well going with a girlfriend, i guess i can skip the nite life haha..so its goin to be a good slow holiday
go with gf also got nite life ler :P
me going during cny... and paying 3 times what you paid :(
that's a good deal!!! hehe..come back with food posts!
Well for food there's "Eat Me" near the Patphong district, it's near Soi Convent, on the blue BTS line (Sala Daeng stop), fusion restaurant opened by this "could be more gay than this" Aussie guy.
And then there's Lemongrass on Sukhumvit (ask your hotel concierge and make reservations!) for Thai food.
If you're feeling a little generous, head on to Lebua @ State Tower (where I stayed the last time) to the 64th floor. Views stunning and the bar stocks the only 100 year old grappa that I know around Bangkok. Sirocco located at the same place is noteworthy too (be prepared to fork out around RM 400 per pax, with wine).
Cheerios and have a good trip!
Oh. Wow. When are you going?? During CNY??
happy holiday and enjoy ur trip!
No JJ market still got Siam Square and MBK! Som Tua Mua aka Nua Papaya Salad Restaurant. This place is located near and between Siam Square and the Siam BTS station. Ask the locals.. famous there.
wei going with GF means you should go for the Tiger show leh.. it should really help you appreciate your GF more... hahahaha
You can have a great Bangkok skyline view from atop of Sirocco or Dusitil (both are in State Tower).
Shopping... Chatuchak on Sunday, MBK. Must go and see the cineplex in Siam Paragon too.
Makan... try their authentic Tom yam, roast pork, oyster omelette, mango salad, wan tan mee etc. If can, choose roadside stalls instead of restaurants. And remember to have pork burger!
hey there Joe..This is the 1st time I'm commenting on yr blog..I've just been to Bangkok last month.. It was awesome..probably u cud take a look at my blog cuz I've post abt my bangkok trip there. it's http://cr4zyb3autiful.blogspot.com
Hope it helps! btw, I enjoy reading yr blog!ciaoz.
If you have a chance to visit bangkok. I recommend khaosan road....... I think that Kaosarn Road is good for young travelers. Around the street, there are a number of old buildings and temples, some of which have been transformed into restaurants and even tattoo parlours.
