MPV Seafood Restaurant @ Cheras

Looks like i really feel like blogging. I stuffed myself to the top of my longest strand of hair yesterday at a Ramadhan buffet, review will be up once i have finished digesting the food. All in all, another story.

Going back to the name of this restaurant, i found it funny when my mom said "There is this restaurant which is pretty good, its called MPV!" Noted, MPV? = Multi Purpose Vehicle that sells food? Or wait a minute, what else could it stand for? To be honest, i didnt even had the cheeks to ask the lady boss but thinking to myself what would i indulge for dinner.

This place fancies itself for selling Hong Kong cuisine as i overheard the lady boss saying to the customers because one of them was looking for Hokkien mee. The highlight of the place would be the lady boss as i did not fail to listen to her voice throughout the whole process of eating dinner. Her loud and infectious voice was prominent as she dished out recommendations to the patrons. Another observation was that she tailored the dishes according to the crowd, meaning if you dressed abit better, you got recommended better fishes and if you had the "cheap" look, cheaper fishes and dishes were recommended. Yes, tailormade to the sleeve but i felt it was definitely "looking down on people".

Sticking to my boring way of introducing the food i had, here you go guys (although i promise i shall come up with another exciting way to blend the food with the review, *i shall*)

I was first introduced to Salt n Pepper squid in Australia. Little did i know, this cooking style was indeed from Hong Kong so i wasted little time to test their "Hong Kong" cuisine by ordering Salt n Pepper Pork Ribs. The meat was tough but taste wise was pretty good. Mom suggested that no nonsense rubbish was used to marinate the meat therefore slightly on the tougher side, but i say if i were to waste my calories, it better make my calories worth.

The way she introduced this dish was as if a dish made for aliens, didnt understand a single thing until i heard deep fried leaves and stir fry stalks. The additional cuttlefish strips was pleasant and different for a change.

An ordinary looking bean curd dish which is supposedly their signature dish, why? The bottom layer is steamed egg, the smoothest i had in a very very long time..Marvellous..

Apparently "Hakka" steam fish but i could be wrong, tell them "suet choy" and "lemon slices" were used in a brothy style steam fish. The flavours were mild and the fish meat was surpisingly succulent. Seriously a change from your norm steam with soya sauce.

A complimentary sea coconut tong sui..

Overall, a change to my usual spread of dishes with some unique cooking styles that may not be available all under one roof. A refreshing dinner in fact and it will be a place that i will drop by again despite the funny name and the loud lady boss.

Their cooking is no doubt delicious but cheating their customer from time to time is not ethical. If they know you are entertainin your customer that can expense, worst still. The price will go up.
