While we waited..sip a glass of wine..was it good? it was abit too thick and abit too strong..i still prefer a light pinot noir..
Bread and butter perhaps? Suddenly it was as if i was transported to a higher class "The Ship"...the items seemed very familiar..very old school..
The oxtail soup that came looked like curry..it was good but very heavy on the cream..the oxtail piece teased me with its little chunks of meat..
Then came my dose of zinc..fresh oysters..i had 6 and that is about as good as it can get..a far cry from my university days when i wallop 1.5 dozens during half price wednesdays..
A combo of prawn and steak..a dish that was plated pretty decent unlike the less appetizing ones that my father and mother got..and since i thought there all look more or less the same, i spared you guys with the identicals..
I ordered a prime rib, medium rare...came out to be more like a medium well..so i knew i had the right to get another one..didnt mind the fact that he might spit in my food..came out really rare..and i thought to myself, maybe i should have stuck with medium from now on..the meat on the inside wasnt bloody and at first i thought it was not fresh but later on, discovered it depends on the way it is kept and cut and etc..The accompanying mustard went straight up my nose and i generously spread the bernaise sauce onto my slab of steak..
To just finish it off, a crepe suzette that required some sort of brandy poured into a pan "live" with orange juice..just didnt figured why he couldnt spare my crepe and let it soaked till it was like crap..the ice cream didnt light up my day..boo..Overall, this place is just not meant for the youngsters..this is a good old school restaurant that practices a serious dress code serving really retro steak dishes and appetizers..exclusive to members keep the crowd small and leave lots of room to talk all night long..a live band accompanies and theres a huge dance floor to waltz the night away to the classics.. Perfect for me..25 years from now on..wait for me.. An ok 7.3 out of 10, i would say..Since its for members, you guys should know about the place..need i say more? prices are around 20-30% more then "The Ship" prices..which is roughly RM30-40 for the steaks..(10USD)

haha..looks like some colliseum place..lol at ur old school tie case..
no big deal huh... honestly, i've not found a real grill house in kl to enjoy good steaks since the closure of "The Grill" at The Regent Hotel (now being renovated into The Grand Millennium) on bukit bintang.
That one's really old school. Flame grilled first and finished in the oven. side dishes are really served at the side. excellent wine pairings tooo.. Sighs.. reminisces..
kbcg: hahah i just went to colliseum that day..lagi old school
leo: seriously nothing great at all..i have heard alot of things about prime in le meridien..hows that?
its good that u go to this kind of contemporary colonial 90 degree spine stiff upper lips kinda place once in a while then u will know how 'unlucky' we are. We know exactly how u feel, afterall its a family dinner right ! da trick is to yeah like thay say hear none but sense de full Xpensive tastes...and say little

With so much of comments you're still giving them 7.3 out of 10? That's generous.
oh wow.... that's a very strict dress code! :|
jessica: i have realised one needs to be responsible for what one say.. yes the comments r for you to know but i dont want to deter ppl from going in because i gave a crap score..its only fair..
meiyen: yes!!! i am still shocked after being forced to make a fashion mistake!
Haven't been to Lake Club for ages...
aiyo, the food at the orchid room, lake club, is awful. that dress code, a remnant of a colonial past, doesnt do much for me either. who the heck wants to wear shirt and tie for dinner...or worse, batik. AND, the place is a hangout for the uncles and aunties...you know they all start ballroom dancing after x-pm.
so, that's why although i am a lake club member, i can count the number of times on one hand, that i've been there. wine and drinks are cheap though.
wmw: as far as i remember..it was eons b4 dis visit..
fbb: hahah perfect answer lar..thus the 25 yrs later.. well whats the point of drinking wine wearing a tie..haha..yes the food is crap..but what to do? reduce score also auntie n uncles going to go and the youngsters wont dare step in mah..
Wah..go makan also need to be so mafan with the dress code. Thus, i choose pasar malam over this! XD
