Meng Kee @ Jalan Tengkat Tong Shin

Today i am finally going to blog about good food..damn good food may i say..before i dive into the world of melting char siew..i would like to say how remorse i feel for not waking up to go for breakfast with the floggers..i guess beauty sleep and food had a good battle between themselves while i snored away..

After a few reviews that gathered a mix response from me..i finally found something that finally bought me back to life..good food..not clean and expensive food..oh well you win some you lose some..this place needs no further introduction situated a few shoplots away from Max! Kitchen..and to correct some people..this is in Tengkat Tong Shin and not Jalan Alor as some might say..

See this? You got the right place..thats for sure..

We were seated in the dim section inside..slightly cooling but very dim..the fact that it is so run down, i dont think they want to spoil your mood digging into your char siew to see the inches of dust everywhere..The chilli was not overly spicy..abit sweet and sour kick..but left virtually untouched..because i like to savour the original flavours intended by the chef..

Cruncy tauge to start of the healthy meal..not so healthy when you look down..

They only serve two items..this chicken and their famous char siew..the chicken was quite smooth served in a very dark soya based sauce..no complaints..balanced out the char siew like yin and yang..a good side kick..

So what makes me people queue outside and watch as if an accident just happened? And also pay exorbitant amounts to go inside a building that looks like it will collapse without warning? The famous char siew of Meng Kee..served with no sweet sauce..which is a very daring move..as the char siew is already very sweetened and charred on the edges..the meat very well marinated..the cut of meat is also fatty which allows the piece of char siew to just melt in your mouth..its so sinful but you cant control your hands as it reaches out for another piece...at the same time your colleagues are staring at you for almost indulging yourself in half the plate that they are paying an equal share of...HaHa..

So all that for RM 11 per person..definitely not cheap for char siew and chicken rice..infact if you tapau..the char siew fan is RM 5 or RM 7? That shows the premium you pay..This despite the high price and the fact you wait ages..and also the dodgy area to speak still deserves a 8.5 out of 10..strictly because i heart the char siew so much..now i know why some mothers say give birth to a piece of char siew better then you..as she points at the son/daughter..because shes thinking of Meng Kee Char Siew!!!
