The front entrance of the restaurant
Situated in a complex that failed miserably which based their concept similar to Starhill with exclusive brands such as Bottega Veneta, Gucci, Zegna and Hugo Boss..but not noticing that KLCC has half the brands as is probably exclusive enough for people around the area..1 more thing..the selling point of the place was that it was near the LRT station..but never notice that people who take LRT cant afford RM1000pls wallets and RM 5000pls hand bags..but anyways out of topic..lets get back to food..another xiu long bao franchise appears in the market in the form of Shangai 10..lets take a look at the variety of dim sum they offer during the day..
The signature xiu long bao..I have actually been there twice and gone through at least 4 baskets of these..and the soup in the dumpling is consistent..meaning lots of soup splurging out from the thin skin..although the meat has quite a strong pork smell but that was on occasions..so it depends whether you like smell or soup la..
A chilli pan fried chee cheong fun..interesting spicy dish..lots of eggs too..mom gave it thumbs up..
The usual stir fry carrot cake actually mutates into yam cake in this version..tastes almost the same to me although i would prefer if some of the chilli from the previous dish was spread over here..
The egg tart is similar to the portugese one although this was so fragile it virtually crumble if you held it too tight..very loose..and melt in your mouth too..
This is the steam Ma Lai Kou..Its similar to a steam chiffon cake..Thats the best description..again..very loose..very nice to eat..and not overly sweet..
The "wor tip"..not nice..frankly the meat was like meat paste..and there wasnt much "sauce" in the dumpling unlike the ones i had in Dragon I..
The fried rice was decent..meant for the kids..but left alot for us to wallop as well..as you can see..the fried rice is professionally fried..the rice grains are very distinguished..unlike mine which comes in scoops..similar to mash potato..
Steam chee cheong fun wrapped with fried vege roll..not Char Leong..which uses Yao Char Guey..but its the first time i ate this..decent..nice try..creative..
Last but not least, the char xiu bao..
I guess this place has alot of work to do..food isnt exactly up to standard..well some dishes are..but some are not..the service is exactly top notch..the staff are all very new and unexperienced..you have staff leaving the tea by the side of the room..we sat in the room..then forgot to serve it to us..you know thats what we pay for in our 10% service charge...encouraging attempt to dethrone to what seem to be the current champion, Dragon I..wish them all the best..a close shave of around 6.9 out of 10..Sorry..non halal yeah...
